Casio’s New Baby-G Changes Its Face Every Day and Turns Into a Bag Charm

A watch with eyes. And a different expression every day. Casio has unveiled three new Baby-G BGA-20K models in Japan, turning an ordinary wristwatch into something that looks surprisingly alive. But the changing face is only half the story. Remove the watch from its strap, slip it into the included animal-ear holder, and it becomes a tiny character you can hang from your bag.

Underneath that playful design sits a proper Baby-G, complete with shock resistance, 100-meter water resistance and a three-year battery life. Japanese pricing starts at just ¥12,100, approximately $77.

Two Tiny Eyes Give This Baby-G a Different Personality Every Day

Look closely at the dial. Two small windows resemble a pair of eyes, with shapes that change automatically as the date advances. The result is a different facial expression each day.

No smartwatch software. No animated touchscreen. Just a clever mechanical-style visual trick built into a traditional quartz watch.

The BGA-20K uses three analog hands alongside a date display. Rather than adding another complicated feature, Casio has made something people might actually enjoy checking each morning.

It is a refreshing approach, especially when most modern watches compete over sensors, connectivity and increasingly complex displays.

From Wristwatch to Animal-Eared Bag Charm

Here is where things get even stranger.

The central watch case detaches from its resin strap and fits inside a specially designed holder featuring two rounded ears. Suddenly, the watch resembles a miniature creature rather than a conventional timepiece.

Attach it to a handbag, carry it as a charm or leave it on your desk as a tiny decorative clock.

Casio explored this idea back in 2024 with the Baby-G BGD-10K, which also transformed into a wearable accessory. The difference this time is the face itself. Those changing eyes give the new model considerably more character.

And that is what makes this release interesting. Casio is not simply selling another colorful watch. It is tapping into the growing appeal of playful accessories and collectible objects.

Three Colors, 100-Meter Water Resistance and a $77 Price Tag

The new collection includes three versions: the black-and-silver BGA-20K-1A, burgundy-toned BGA-20K-4A and white-and-silver BGA-20K-7A.

All three share the same specifications:

  • 43.5 × 42.4 × 11.5 mm resin case
  • 36-gram weight
  • Shock-resistant construction
  • 100-meter water resistance
  • Approximately three years of battery life
  • Accuracy rated at ±20 seconds per month

One detail worth considering: despite its lightweight construction, the watch measures 42.4 mm across. It may look tiny as a bag charm, but it is not particularly small on the wrist.

Casio has scheduled the BGA-20K collection for an October 2026 release in Japan, priced at ¥12,100 including tax. US and European availability has not been confirmed, and the approximate dollar conversion is not an official US retail price.

Does anyone really need a watch with changing eyes and animal ears? Probably not.

But in a world full of serious-looking watches, this little Baby-G has something different: personality. Sometimes, that is enough.
